British Water Wastewater Treatment Plant Accredited Service Technician (including reaccreditation) Assessment (BW2)
Assessment for all modules and pre-requisites that must be approved so you can become an accredited technician for a treatment plant. In order to gain accreditation, you will need to satisfy three elements: Qualifications Required, Relevant Job Packs, Onsite Assessment.
£495+VAT per day plus travel, mileage and where applicable, accommodation. British Water Accredited Engineer card charged at £60+VAT per person which lasts 3 years.
Those previously accredited will be required to conduct this BW2 assessment on a 3 yearly basis.

What you’ll learn on this course
Element One - Qualifications Required
- Completion of the BW1 Knowledge Appreciation training course delivered by Develop Training.
- Recognised Qualification in Electrical Safety (e.g. NICEIC, ELECSA, City and Guilds, & ECA) or appropriate Safe Isolation practical training.
- Health & Safety course with CSCS affiliation. JIB PMES or EUSR Water SHEA.
- Medium Risk Confined Space - City & Guilds 6150-02 Level 2 Award in Working in Medium Risk Confined Spaces (Entrant): Water or CABWI CS-02 Level 2 Award in Working in Medium Risk Confined Spaces.
Element Two - Relevant Job Packs
You will need to provide evidence of working on each of the following types of plant (1-4). Your evidence must not be more than 12 months old at the time of submission.
Your work evidence (service/maintenance reports), must show details of your activities/service report, in accordance with the British Water Code of Practice, Appendix C (Audit Procedure for Failing Plants (APFP)), pages 14-17.
- Work Evidence of Biofilters.
- Work Evidence of RBC's.
- Work Evidence of AS Plants.
- Work Evidence of Pump Equipment.
Element Three - Onsite Assessment
The assessor will accompany the engineer on a pre-planned visit to a treatment plant.
What is required on the day?
- Suitable space for conducting 1:1 review.
- Welfare facilities.
- PPE relevant to the task.
- Passport/Driving license photo ID.
- Copies or access to job packs and certificates relevant to elements one and two.
You have 12 months from your BW1 training to acquire the relevant qualifications, gather work place experience and subsequently book in your BW2 onsite assessment.
